MARION — The 10th-ranked Marshalltown boys’ tennis team came up shy of making the state tournament for the fourth time in the last five years, falling 5-0 to No. 7 Linn-Mar in Thursday’s completion of Wednesday’s suspended substate final.
Complete match scores were unavailable as of press time, but the Bobcats ended another impressive season with a 14-2 record. Linn-Mar (11-6) advances to state for the sixth-straight year.
“Linn-Mar was just one spot better than we were today,” said MHS head coach James Christensen. “A lot of good tennis over two days.
“It was an incredible season from our seniors Isaac Benscoter, Adam Boone, Jacob Christen, Isaac Seberger, Will Swartz, Tayven Dutton, Lucas Bantz and Collin Jablonski. We couldn’t have built this team without them.”
